We’ve been travelling with the VW Grand California for two weeks. This compact but spacious van is very well-equipped. A toilet (😅), a shower (😱) a small yet functional kitchen (🎉), a large bed and loads of storage space (🤩) – especially useful if you bring a hell lot of food & wine from your trip – make it a comfortable camper to travel with.
I was in for the adventure from the very first minute I decided to do this road trip, but was also aware that it could be challenging at times. Living in only a few sqm, for two weeks, in the middle of autumn might provoke cabin fever, I thought, also wondering whether we’d find nice places to stay for the night.
It turned out that the size of the van was perfect for the trip we had planned. Being very active, we went for hikes every day and were very happy to stay in at night.
What I love most about our house on wheels is the flexibility to change your plans whenever it suits you or taking a break just to prepare a cup of coffee and to enjoy a local treat.
During this trip I realised how much I like this adventurous & minimalistic way of travelling.
It’s so liberating, and I haven’t lived in the ‘here and now’ like I did during this trip for a long time. Moreover it feels like you’re the lead explorer of your very own expedition.
Would I do it again? Absolutely yes!
I’m so grateful for the opportunity with Webcamper, because I discovered a whole new different way of travelling. I’ve been on road trips before and done a bunch of inter-rails but this was different. Never worrying about external factors as transportation & accommodation is amazing.
